 Questions on Bermuda
Author: Lizzie Rochester
Date:   06-16-10 00:48

I am marrying my long time love who happens to be Bermudian. (He lives and works there). I am not. I would like to know as much as I possibly can about the people, the culture, the place and before you answer, please note that I have used other forums. So I know the population, read up a bit on the law, currency and climate, etc.

But I would like anecdotes, suggestions, what should I stay away from, what should I look forward to. Just things in general that you can't read off a more formal website.

All comments (within reason) would be appreciated.

Thank you

I know this is a random suggestion but as a bermudian who is lucky enough to be well travelled, I think the best way to find out about a culture is to listen to the way people communicate with one another.

Honestly, If your fiancee is Bermudian he is likely to be on facebook.com , if not, he should join and then you also should. Bermudians are well-travelled and one of the most connected nations in the world, more than 95% own a personal computer, and more than 50% of us are on Facebook.

Do this and start looking at Bermudian's conversations between one another, you will soon come to expect our brand of humour, friendliness and general attitude to life.

Another suggestion is to watch bermudians on youtube.com, just look up bermuda. Our local music artists: Collie Buddz, Uzimon and Homegrown have some great/funny clips posted. Take a look!
